Top English premiership club Manchester United is set to drop superstar this weekend, according to The Sun. Wayne Rooney is the captain of the Red Devils, and the national team side. However, his performance of recent has left much to be desired. The report claims that the skipper has lost his spot in the team for this weekend game after his below-par performance in United’s third straight loss to Watford in the Premier League last week.
The Hornets bossed Manchester United, trouncing them 3-1 in a perfectly executed game strategy. Jose Mourinho added a few stars to the United team during the summer break that cost the club a lot. He is already under pressure to perform in his debut season for United. The losses put him in bad light due to the record in his last season in charge at Chelsea. Mourinho has been heaping the blame on different people, attracting sneer from fans.
The report from The Sun say the Three Lions skipper would likely miss the eagerly awaited match against the defending champions Leicester City this weekend. Leicester City has not started as well as they did in the last campaign. They lost their opening game 2-1 to new EPL joiners Hull City then played a draw against Arsenal. However, they defeated another EPL joiner Burnley 3-0 last week, but only after being disgraced 4-1 by a Jurgen Klopp-led Liverpool side the week before. They approach the United game with confidence that they can pull a stunt due to recent happenings at Old Trafford. This makes the tie unpredictable as United would be looking at turning their tide of woes.
Mourinho would have to change strategy and possibly team play as quick as possible to ensure United return to the ‘bright’ path they started the season with. Rooney’s absence from the team seems to be the way to go.
